Do you struggle to complete your work or chores no matter how much effort you put to get to the finish line? Or perhaps no matter the many ways you try to explain something to your partner, they just don’t understand?
Neurodiversity and communication. Whether you are neurotypical, neurodiverse, or a neurosurgeon, understanding and being understood can be challenging and frustrating. That’s where I can help.
Having a skill set to regulate your nervous system and an environment built for your specific brain is a necessity.
Especially if you exist in a world not built for you.
Our world assumes everyone is wired to experience themselves, their relationships, and their environment in a “neurotypical” or expected way. Not everyone processes things within these narrow expectations and are considered “neurodiverse”. You or someone you know may identify experiencing the world differently. This impacts your thought processes, organizational needs, communication, and comfort within our environment. Making it difficult to connect with others and meet others’ expectations of you.
For example, you and your partner know you love each other, but you can’t stop fighting and the fighting never leads to greater understanding. Fighting between partners tells us valuable information; it tells us what matters to you most. And with a few additions to your communication skill set, you and your partner can better understand what matters most to each other. Which means you can spend less time fighting and more time peacefully connecting with each other.
Having a Master degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Adler University here in Chicago, I am ready to help get you and your partner(s) back on track to reconnection like before, and a deeper connection like never before. And having a neurodiverse brain myself, I know the importance of building a life that was meant for your brain. I’ll help you find your own best way Instead of trying to fit the square piece of your brain into the triangle slot of our neurotypical based world.
The relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship you'll ever have.
